PGLU Reinforces Fight Against CoViD-19, Hires Project-Based Nurses

𝗣𝗚𝗟𝗨 𝗥𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗙𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗔𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗩𝗶𝗱-𝟭𝟵, 𝗛𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁-𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗡𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘀

Further reinforcing the fight against the CoViD-19 pandemic, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) hired eight project-based nurses to be assigned to various isolation facilities and rural health units (RHUs) of the province. Said nurses went through an orientation today, April 5, 2021 with the PGLU Human Resource and Management Unit, the Provincial Health Office and the Office of the Provincial Accountant.

Discussed in the orientation are their functions and compensations. The project-based nurses are tasked to perform daily rounds and record clinical assessment in the patient’s records; make appropriate clinical assessment and timely referrals to the facility physician; initiate appropriate infection control and prevention measures in collaboration with the sanitation officer and facility physician; facilitate addressing and correcting identified concerns within the LIGTAS COVID Center; serve as key educators to staff, patients and families regarding CoViD-19 infection control, policies and procedures; safeguard and inventory equipment, supplies and logistics; responsible for regular reporting of LIGTAS COVID Center activities and other information as may be required; and other related functions.

The PGLU continues to augment the needs of RHUs in terms of manpower, facilities and logistics. The success of this fight depends on the united efforts of everyone. Let us stay at home and continue observing the minimum health standards.

PGLU Augments Vaccination Operations in RHUs

Ensuring undisrupted vaccination program in the province despite the current active CoViD-19 cases, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) through the Provincial Health Office has dispatched its first augmentation Vaccination Team in Naguilian, La Union on April 5, 2021 to aid their CoViD-19 response.
The vaccination team was composed of six members with two vaccination nurses, one screening and assessment officer, one health educator, and two data managers.
“I am honored to be a part of PGLU’s vaccination team as I know that I am helping the community impede the increase of CoViD-19 cases in La Union. We hope that our kaprobinsiaan will also help us by staying at home and by following the health standards,” said Ina Barrientos, one of the nurse vaccinators.
With the aid of the PGLU vaccination team, Naguilian Rural Health Unit (RHU) vaccinated a total of 120 Dental and Barangay Health Workers.
The PGLU targets to dispatch a total of 18 vaccination teams augmentating the operations of the different Rural Health Units in the province.
Through this vaccination teams, the province is expected to increase the number of immunized health care workers, and later on public, in hopes to decrease the current number of active cases in the province.
As of April 5, 2021, there are 153 active cases in the Municipality of Naguilian. The need for an additional vaccination team was identified in their needs assessment.
The PGLU continues to provide needed assistance of its different component local government units in order to decrease and control the CoViD-19 cases in the province.

Gov. Pacoy Gives Treats to Frontliners

𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗞 𝗬𝗢𝗨, 𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗥𝗦. As a simple token of appreciation to the efforts of the frontliners, Gov. Pacoy sends them treats while on duty at the hospitals, isolation facilities, and provincial border checkpoints, on April 3, 2021. A total of 80 boxes of pizza were distributed to 568 healthcare workers and border personnel, who spent no Holy Week vacation as they remained on duty at various stations in the six district hospitals; border checkpoints; Provincial Government frontline offices namely Provincial Health Office, Operations Center and Provincial Incident Management Team; Home of Hope isolation facilities; and hospitals namely La Union Medical Center and LUMED. Gov. Pacoy’s team continues the distribution of treats today, April 4, 2021, to frontliners in hospitals such as Bethany, Lorma and ITRMC and the rural health units in 20 component LGUs in the province.

La Union LGUs Fully Supported by PGLU

The Provincial Government of La Union, through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), continued conducting dialogues with its component local government units (LGUs) that are considered high risk to ensure that they get the maximum help in battling CoViD-19.
This second batch of dialogues with LGUs included Bauang, Naguilan, Aringay, Agoo and Santo Tomas. Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officers (MDRRMOs) and representatives shared their best practices and their challenges with the recent surge of cases in the province.
Ensuring alignment with the province, Assistant PDRRMO Alvin Cruz discussed the policies and direction of the province in its CoViD-19 response and the Provincial Core Team Against CoViD-19’s findings in terms of epidemic risk levels of each LGU. Recommendations were also given to help the MDRRMOs in their operations.
The same dialogues will also be conducted in the Municipality of Pugo and the City of San Fernando completing all the 20 component LGUs of the province.
Through these collaborations and our self-discipline, we can secure victory in this chapter of the fight through the new normal.

MINIMUM HEALTH STANDARDS MONITORED IN LU ESTABLISHMENTS

In time with the effectivity of Executive Order No. 7, Series of 2021 Providing Stricter Border Measures due to the Increase in Number of CoViD-19 Positive Cases, and Suspending Tourism and Holy Week Activities of Non-Residents in the Province of La Union, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office further monitored the compliance of different restaurants, resorts and hotels in the Municipalities of Luna, Bacnotan, San Juan, Bauang, Agoo and Pugo on March 31 and April 1, 2021.

PGLU, LGUs Magkaagapay Kontra CoViD-19

Maagap na tumugon ang Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) sa mga agarang pangangailangan ng mga component local government units (LGU) sa kanilang patuloy na pagpapababa ang kaso ng CoViD-19 sa kani-kanilang nasasakupan. Simula kahapon, Abril 1, 2021, namigay ang PGLU ng mga PPEs at medical supplies.
Kasama sa mga ipinamahagi ng PGLU ay mga kagamitan sa isolation facilities kasama ang 20 modular tents at 60 cot beds para sa high risk areas sa unang distrito ng La Union. Karagdagan dito ay ang medical supplies kasama ang 100 na surgical face masks, 50 na KN95 masks, 10 na coverall, 10 na head cover, 100 na shoe cover, 10 na isolation gown, 10 na face shield, 100 na gowns para sa mga munisipyo sa nasabing distrito.
Ito ay ang pakikipagpulong sa kanila ni Assistant Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Alvin Cruz, nitong Marso 31, 2021, at nalaman ng PGLU ang kanilang agarang pangangailangan.
Patuloy parin ang maagap na pakikipanayam ng PGLU sa mga component LGUs upang malaman ang mga pangangailangan ng mga ito para malabanan ang pandemya.
Mas malakas ang ating laban kung ang lahat ay makikiisa. Hinihikayat parin ang lahat na manatili sa loob
ng tahanan at sumunod sa minimum health standards. Makakaya nating bumangon mula sa lahat ng pagsubok kung tayo ay mananatiling nagkakaisa at nagtutulungan.

PGLU Ready to Help CoViD-19 High Risk Areas

𝙒𝘼𝙇𝘼𝙉𝙂 𝙄𝙒𝘼𝙉𝘼𝙉 𝙎𝘼 𝙇𝘼𝘽𝘼𝙉. Upon the directive of Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III, on March 31,2021, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) met with the local government units (LGUs) identified as critical and high risk to identify aspects where the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) can augment to help manage the recent surge of CoViD-19 cases in the province.
Dialogues were conducted with the first batch of LGUs including San Gabriel, Luna, Balaoan, Bacnotan and San Juan discussing the policies and direction of the province in its CoViD-19 response. They also discussed the Provincial Core Team Against CoViD-19’s findings in terms of epidemic risk levels of each LGU.
In return, the LGUs discussed their ongoing activities to mitigate the surge in CoViD-19 cases to which Assistant PDRRMO Alvin Cruz gave recommendations for them to further improve their services.
The dialogue with the next batch of high risk areas will be conducted today, April 1, 2021 in the LGUs of Bauang, Naguilan, Aringay, Agoo, Santo Tomas and Pugo.
Through these dialogues, PGLU is prepared to augment the needs of its component LGUs in the fight against CoVid-19 ensuring the safety of its constituents.

Protektahan ang Kaprobinsiaan; PGLU Frontliners Nabakunahan

In order to continue the protection of the provinces against CoViD-19, 73 frontline workers from the Provincial Health Office and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office were evacuated from March 24 to 25, 2021 on Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union.
′′ Although we received the first dose of CoViD-19 vaccine, we will remain cautious in field work. We are grateful for the protection that has been given to us,” said Rafael Lim, one of the vaccine recipients.
Vaccination continues for those in priority group 1-A in La Union. According to a note as of March 28, 2021, there were 4,936 frontliners already vaccinated.
