EMPOWERING THE YOUTH AS NEXT GENERATION LEADERS

Gen Zs from the different schools in the province participated in the Gen Z Time Program held via Video Conference on March 29 – March 30, 2021. The said program serves as an avenue for the Gen Zs and the Governor to interact and share fresh perspectives in leadership and governance.
During the session, Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” Ortega III emphasized the vital role of Gen Zs as today’s emerging leaders who shall help in reshaping the future of the Province. The Governor shared wisdom and inspiration to encourage greater involvement from the Gen Zs in bringing about transformative governance.
The Gen Z Time Project was also launched, wherein the participants are encouraged to identify pressing issues and concerns in their schools, in their communities, or in the province and propose solutions-oriented initiatives that help improve the lives of the people.
A Question-and-Answer segment with the Governor has also been conducted, where participants have posted questions on the programs of the PGLU in areas of governance, education, employment, infrastructure, and agriculture.
Gen Zs who participated in this program are 18-24 years old residents of La Union. Moving forward, more partnerships shall be forged and reinforced to enable more effective and efficient design and implementation of programs, projects and activities that will better address the needs of the constituents and will be instrumental in building a #StrongerLaUnion.

PGLU UPDATES HERITAGE DATABASE; RESURVEYS LOCAL CULTURAL PROPERTIES

With the sustained efforts of the Provincial Government of La Union to update the province’s Local Cultural Inventory (LCI) in preparation for the crafting of the La Union Cultural Development Plan 2022-2025, the La Union Provincial Tourism Office – Culture and Arts Section (LUPTO-CAS) conducted a site visit of tangible cultural property resources of all 20 component Local Government Units (LGUs) in the province on January 25-27 and February 5, 8 and 9, 2021.

PROVINCIAL SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT BOARD TWG CONVENES

The Technical Working Group of the Provincial Solid Waste Management Board (PSWMB) convened on March 29, 2021 via videoconferencing to discuss and review the draft ordinance on the prohibition of single-use plastics in La Union and the proposed special waste management system in La Union.

La Union Scholars Ready to Receive Assistance Through ATM Cards

Leveling up its digital services and as a testament of its full support for the welfare of youth in the province, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) held the pilot distribution of the ATM Payroll Savings Card to the La Union Educational Assistance and Scholarship Program (LUEASP) on March 25, 2021 at the Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union.

PGLU Recognizes LGUs in NAPANAM Implementation

The Provincial Government of La Union awarded QR Scanning desktop units to the Local Government Units (LGUs) of Bangar, Caba, and San Gabriel as a token of appreciation for their implementation of the NAPANAM Contact Tracing System in their designated LGUs on March 22-25, 2021 at the Information and Communications Technology Unit (ICTU) Office, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union.

With its commitment to provide quality healthcare to its kaprobinsiaan, the 𝗟𝗮 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 (𝗟𝗨𝗠𝗖) was hailed as 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟭’𝘀 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗿𝘂𝗴-𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗧𝗕 (𝗣𝗠𝗗𝗧) 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 for its treatment success rate of TB cases in 2020.

The award was conferred by the Department of Health Center for Health and Development in Ilocos Region (DOH-CHD-1) on March 24, 2021 during the Virtual Consultative Meeting and Awarding of Top Performing PMDT, Rapid TB Diagnostic Laboratories, and Directly Observed Treatment, Short-course Facilities.

When we work together, we will not only be able to manage the TB cases in the province but we will also foster a Healthy La Union, Happy La Union by 2025.

CDH Celebrates World TB Day

STOP TUBERCULOSIS. In celebration of World Tuberculosis (TB) Day, Caba District Hospital (CDH) Nurse and Tuberculosis Directly Observed Treatment Short Course Coordinator, Maricar T. Agpasan, discusses to Outpatient Department (OPD) patients on the tuberculosis prevention, management and control during the Information Education Campaign held at the OPD waiting Area, CDH, Caba, La Union on March 24, 2021.

She highlighted the need to stop the transmission of TB from one adult to another through identifying people with active TB and curing them through the provision of drug treatment. The world Tuberculosis (TB) Day is celebrated every 24th day of March to raise public awareness about the devastating health, social and economic consequences of TB, and to step up the efforts to end the global TB epidemic.
