A Pontifical Coronation: Agoo’s Beloved Virgin Mary to Receive Papal Honors

A historic event will unfold within the hallowed grounds of The Minor Basilica and Diocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Charity in Sta. Monica Parish, Agoo, La Union on December 6, 2024. The venerated image of Nuestra Señora de Caridad de Agoo, popularly known as “Apo Caridad de Agoo” will be honored with a solemn Pontifical Coronation. This significant event marks a milestone in the town’s religious history, elevating the Marian devotion of the townspeople and devotees from all over La Union and neighboring provinces to a higher level of recognition.

PGLU Further Ramps Up Numbers of Vaccinated Seniors; Pfizer, Moderna Ready to be administered

Following the acceptance of the Province of La Union of the first batch of Moderna Vaccine comprised of 100 vials equivalent to 1,000 first doses on August 5, 2021, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) is now geared up for the conduct of vaccination of more Senior Citizen on August 7, 2021 at the Saint Louis Gym, City of San Fernando, La Union to increase the number of inoculated kaprobinsiaan from the said priority group.

PGLU Safeguards Kaprobinsiaan From Monsoon Rains

Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee Chairman on Disaster Preparedness and Management and Relief Services Board Member Gary N. Pinzon along with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) conducted an assessment visit in Luna, La Union today, July 24, 2021 to ensure safety of residents affected by landslides and floods brought about by Southwest Monsoon Rains.

PGLU HOLDS WORKSHOP ON LOCAL CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT PLANNING

To strengthen the local government units’ (LGUs) culture, arts and heritage conservation, promotion and development initiatives, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) headed by Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III through the La Union Provincial Tourism Office (LUPTO) – Culture and Arts Section in collaboration with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) conducted a 3-day Local Cultural Development Planning (LCDP) Workshop on June 8 – 10, 2021 via video conferencing.

AGLAUN, OTHER LU ARTISTS FEATURED IN “MY CITY, MY SM, MY ART” BOOK

The works of the Artists Guild of La Union (AGLaUn) and notable visual artists from the province were featured in the SM’s art book compilation entitled “My City, My SM, My Art.” Launched during this year’s National Arts Month, the book is a compilation of the three-year art campaign with dynamic activities held in malls around the country.

The sample works of AGLaUn and La Union artists join the featured paintings and visual art creations of excelling and emerging artists in the country. Their artworks which highlighted the sacred arts tradition of La Union are only a few of the main attractions during the 2017 exhibit held at Rosales, Pangasinan. Exhibits held around the country have shown how contemporary artists bring to life new creations in the new century. Some of the most prominent personalities in La Union visual art scene who were featured include Rodel Rillera, Alger Guevarra, Cesar “Ciano” Dumo, Valen Valero and Ric Ico.

SP LU APPROVES MEASURE TO CONTROL ASF

As part of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan’s counterpart in controlling and preventing the further spread of the African Swine Fever (ASF) disease in the province, the 22nd Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved in third and final reading the Draft Ordinance No. 295-2021, entitled, Provincial Ordinance For Intensified African Swine Fever (ASF) Disease Control Program during its 101st Regular Session on June 1, 2021.

San Juan Records Highest Number of Vaccinees in One Site in La Union

With the continuing #BakunaMuna Program of La Union, the vaccination team of the Municipality of San Juan with the assistance of two vaccination teams of the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) inoculated a total of 284 vaccinees, the highest number of vaccinated individuals so far in the province in a day on a single site during the CoViD-19 vaccination of Senior Citizens or Priority Group A2 in the said town on May 5, 2021.
