As part of the Provincial Government of La Unionโs (PGLU) support in the recovery of the provinceโs Agricultural Sector, Gov. Raphaelle Veronica โRafyโ Ortega-David together with the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg) spearheaded the distribution of Agricultural Production Support for the farmers of La Union on September 22, 2022 at the La Union Honeybee Center in Bacnotan.
Gov. Rafy and OPAg Officer-in-Charge Ms. Agnes Grace A. Cargamento, personally handed the cacao and coffee seedlings and various vegetable seed packs to the City/Municipal Agriculturists and Technologists that shall be distributed to 1,121 identified farmer-beneficiaries in the entire province.
The distribution of agri-production support is part of the OPAgโs Project under PUNLAD: Punla sa Pag-Unlad Project, Establishment of Community Garden Project and GULAYAMANAN:Gulayan Pagyamanin Project. These projects aim not just to increase and expand the existing home-grown food production in the province but also to convince households to maintain backyard garden allowing income generation for households and farmers in La Union.
During the activity, Governor Rafy ensured her full support to La Unionโs agricultural sector. She also enjoined the participants in her call for La Union PROBINSYAnihan especially that the sector will play a vital role in the attainment of the provinceโs vision in becoming the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025.
Leveraging the significant contribution of the Agricultural Sector in the province, the Provincial Government of La Union shall continue to support and initiate advocacies that are geared towards the growth, development and progress of La Unionโs Agri Sector allowing inclusive growth and opportunities for the kaprobinsiaan through #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan.
