To improve the current health situation in La Union, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Eduardo S. Posadas provided an update on the current trends of COVID-19 cases and the epidemic risk level of the province to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members during their 3rd Regular Session on July 19, 2022.
As reported by Dr. Posadas, as of July 18, 2022, La Union logged a total of 27,673 confirmed cases with 145 active cases and most of them are located in the City of San Fernando. With this number of active cases and the reported Average Daily Attack Rate and 2-week Growth Rate from June 21 to July 18, 2022, the province is at a high-risk epidemic level. He advised intensifying the vaccination program and the observance of minimum health standards.
Posadas likewise reported the vaccination coverage of COVID-19 in the province, wherein he said that as of July 18, 2022, the province has already reached 67.54% of the 70% herd immunity status or a total of 568,726 individuals are fully vaccinated. House-to-house vaccination is among the strategies being implemented to increase coverage.
The Provincial Health Office (PHO) commits to work together with SP to address the cases of dengue and chikungunya as well as the provincial governmentβs intervention and strategy being implemented. As of the reporting date, there were three reported deaths of dengue in the municipality of Bangar.
Aiming to intensify #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan in the health sector, all matters presented and reported by Dr. Posadas together with the issues raised by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members were referred to the Committee on Health as the lead committee to further study and come up with recommendations, particularly the formulation of appropriate legislative measures.
