To ensure community preparedness in possible water hazards, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office conducted a five-day Basic Water Rescue (BAWAR) Training at the Naguilian Civic Center, Naguilian, La Union on October 10-14, 2022 resulting to 26 trained rescuers in the municipality
The set of participants is composed of representatives from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office; Rural Health Unit; Barangay Councils; Philippine National Police Municipal Police Station; Bureau of Jail Management and Penology; and the Philippine Army.
The intensive training highlighted a one mile swim and scenario hands-on training with discussions and demo on Standard First Aid and Basic Life Support; and water evolution.
After the activity, it is expected that trained rescuers will take part in #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan for a disaster-resilient La Union.
