The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), through the Provincial Project Monitoring Committee (PPMC), kick-started the 1st Quarter actual field monitoring of various infrastructure projects implemented in the province of La Union.
The actual field monitoring of projects was conducted to evaluate current status of projects to serve as basis for future project improvements and implementation. A total of 10 infrastructure projects were visited and assessed by the inspection team. A few common findings were observed and listed during the inspection such as commendable workmanship, positive feedback, asphalt maintenance, some minimal improvements and immediate completion of projects.
Further, the monitoring team made some recommendations for the enhancement of future project implementation. They stressed that multiple phased projects must indicate the scope percentage from the overall completion of the project and that project markers must be seen for public awareness of the project details. With regard to road projects, the team also recommended to prioritize the inclusion of road gutter over the completion of a longer road segment without gutter. Lastly, the team commended the utilization of funds to prioritize the full completion of a project.
Present during the two-day inspection were the members of the PPMC. Others present were Provincial Administrator, Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator, members of the Local Finance Committee (LFC), representatives from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, Office of the Provincial Engineering and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The PGLU has been a consistent awardee of the Search for Most Outstanding Project Monitor by the Regional Development Council (RDC) โ Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC) I.
