In celebration of the 2022 International Youth Day (IYD), the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) through the Office of Panlalawigang Pederasyon ng mga Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) in collaboration with the La Union Provincial Tourism Office โ€“ Culture and the Arts Unit successfully held the Linggo ng Kabataan 2022 Culmination Program through recognizing the achievements and contributions of the Kaprobinsiaan youth to the provinceโ€™s culture, beliefs and traditions on September 30, 2022 at the Provincial Disaster and Risk-Reduction Management Office Training Hall, Sevilla, City of San Fernando, La Union

Actively participated by the youth across the province, the celebration focused on various sustainable activities which include: Kurditan Kabataan: Iloko Writing Contest, in accordance with Provincial Ordinance No. 380-2022, participated in by selected students from the public and private schools, out-of-School Youth and learners from the Alternative Learning System in La Union; Sirib Kabataan: Cultural Fest, a talent competition among the youth highlighting the culture, festivity, and talents among the youth in the province; SARIRIT: La Union History Quiz Show, a quiz bee contest with questions lifted from the book โ€œLa Union: The Making of a Province 1850-1921;โ€ Live to Lead, a 3-day youth camp training among the SK Officials, Local Youth Development Council and Local Youth Development Officers in partnership with the Provincial Youth Development Office, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office, and Provincial Health Office; and Feature Fridays: La Union Youth Champion, featuring a youth champion with great contributions in the society and who advocates one of the 9 centers of youth participation.

Ex-Officio Board Member Alyssa Kristine B. Sibuma graced the program and congratulated all the youth awardees. In her message, she extended her gratitude to everyone joining the event. She emphasized in her speech the importance of conducting activities that seek to promote and preserve culture, arts, and language and highlight the unique talents, knowledge and skills of the youth in the province. She also assured the Kaprobinsiaan youth that she will remain committed in providing more meaningful and worthwhile programs, projects and activities for them.

Inspired from 2022 IYD theme โ€œ'Intergenerational solidarity: creating a world for all ages, Gov. Raphaelle Veronica โ€œRafyโ€ Ortega-David in a video-recorded message, hoped that the celebration will serve as an inspiration not only to the youth but also to all ages to embrace solidarity and to face the challenges of the future. She underscored the significant role of the youth in achieving progress through #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan. โ€œItultuloyyo latta koma dagiti nasasayaat a narugianyo para iti komunidad ken iti Probinsiatayo a La Union.. Malaki ang inyong ambag sa ating sama-samang pagkamit ng ating vision na gawin ang La Union na Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025. I am one of you and I am one with you in your advocacies,โ€ she said.

Other distinguished guests and officials who were present include Board Member Maria Rosario Eufrosina โ€œCharyโ€ P. Nisce, Board Member Cynthia Angelica M. Bacurnay, local historian Dr. Adriel O. Meimban and some of the SK Chairpersons and members of the province.

Responding to the call for #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan, the program seeks to celebrate the resilience, talents, skills, and Kaprobinsiaan youthโ€™s creativity towards building a more sustainable and progressive La Union, a province worth living in.
