With the continuous upholding of safety and security in the Province of La Union, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Council convened on March 30, 2022 at the La Union Peace, Order and Safety - Emergency Operations Center, City of San Fernando, La Union to ensure alignment in the operations of the province and attached agencies and local government units (LGUs).
La Union Vaccination Operations Manager Dr. Dan William Dacanay presented the CoViD-19 status where there are only 19 active cases in the province as of March 28, 2022 while there are 68.80% vaccinated with first dose and 61.94% are fully vaccinated from the target population.
Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Mr. Aureliano F. Rulloda III reported the PDRRMC Accomplishments for 2021 in terms of emergency response and other disaster services wherein there were 196 incidents monitored; 146 patients catered for medical assistance, patient conduction, and inter-facility transfer; 47 transport services for vaccination, personnel, specimen, logistics, and surveillance; and 52 special deployment requests.
Aside from the operational accomplishments, to further build resilience, DRRM Awareness Trainings were conducted including Emergency Responders Training; First Aid and Basic Life Support Training, and DRRM Awareness through web conferencing and face-to-face.
The LUPOS-EOC was also established on November 15, 2021 to serve as operations center for disaster preparedness, response, mitigation, and recovery. An Emergency Rescue Truck was also procured to cater to more population when there is a need for emergency response. The Provincial Government of La Union also turned over Disaster Response Vehicles to 36 Barangays in Balaoan, La Union.
Following the formation of the Provincial Incident Management Team for CoViD-19, a total of 4,532 calls were addressed concerning CoViD-19 and border control. Provincial quarantine check points were also established in Sudipen, Burgos, Udiao, Rabon, TPLEX, Tubao and Pugo. In 2021, six weather disturbances were monitored where rescue, relief and response services were rendered by the council.
The Annual Investment Program for 2023 and the Programs and Projects charged under the special trust fund were also presented in the meeting where agencies and LGUs gave their inputs.
Aside from Department Heads and representatives PGLU Offices, representatives from the Philippine National Police โ La Union Police Provincial Office, Philippine Coast Guard, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Trade and Industry, National Irrigation Administration, Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Education-La Union Schools Division Office, Department of Labor and Employment, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Red Cross, Department of Science and Technology, and City DRRMO were present in the meeting.
The meeting served as an avenue to discuss and align plans among LGUs and Agencies for ensuring safety of all constituents in the province which is essential in building a #StrongerLaUnion a province worth living in.
