A people-centered and transformative governance continues as the province of La Union warmly welcomed five neophytes and three returning board members in the 23rd Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP).
Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members (SPM) Joy R. Ortega, Cynthia Angelica M. Bacurnay, Victor I. Rivera, and Rachel N. Pinzon will be first time members of the SP as they emerged as winners in the provincial board membership race last May.
Hon. Tanya Roberta A. de Guzman, meanwhile, was installed as an ex-officio member of the 23rd SP being the Interim President of the Philippine Councilorβs League (PCL) - La Union Chapter, while awaiting PCLβs provincial elections this coming August.
Hon. Maria Rosario Eufrosina βCharyβ P. Nisce is now a regular member of the Provincial Board following her stint as Ex-Officio Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member for being the PCL representative in the previous term. She garnered the highest percentage of votes for board members during the May 2022 elections garnering a total of 60.27%.
Returning as members of the Provincial Board are Hon. Henry B. Balbin of Agoo and Hon. Ruperto A. Rillera,Jr. of Naguilian.
SPM Balbin, who last served as a board member for the term 2010-2013, recently capped his post as Vice-Mayor of Agoo, serving as the townβs 2nd highest official for the past 9 years.
SPM Rillera, who was a member of the provincial board from 2010-2019, also briefly served in the 22nd SP as PCL Representative from March to November 2020 when Hon. Nisce served as the Acting Vice-Mayor of the City of San Fernando.
Joining the new and returning members of the SP are the re-elected officials headed by Vice-Governor Mario Eduardo C. Ortega, Hon. Maria Annabelle S. de Guzman, Hon. Gerard G. Ostrea, and Hon. Jennifer C. Mosuela-Fernandez; and ex-officio officials Hon. Geraldine R. Ortega, Representative of the Liga ng mga Barangay - La Union Chapter and Hon. Alyssa Kristine B. Sibuma, SK Federation President of La Union.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan, through the leadership of Vice Governor Mario Eduardo Ortega, vowed their full support to Gov. Rafy along with her P.U.S.O Agenda to deliver more elevated services, programs and projects to every Kaprobinsiaan, through the strength of #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan.
