The Province of La Union is once again included as one of the 14 finalists in the nationwide Search for the Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit (LGU) for the year 2022.

Conducted by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), this yearโ€™s annual search is focused on the theme, โ€œThe Philippines is Ready and Open for Business,โ€ which highlights the success stories and best practices of LGUs in restoring, resuming and increasing business operations at the local level in partnership with the private sector.

The Provincial Governmentโ€™s efforts and initiatives in its economic recovery through Agri-Tourism paved way for La Unionโ€™s nomination on the said Search. This also highlights the vision of the Province to be the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon in 2025 that would open opportunities, investments and developments leading to income generation and economic progression.

On October 3, 2022, Gov. Raphaelle Veronica โ€œRafyโ€ Ortega-David virtually faced the panel for the Search for the Most Business-Friendly LGUs. This was necessary for the judges to further understand the provinceโ€™s programs and make clarifications on matters relative to the bid documents.

The panel tossed questions to Gov. Rafy and was asked to elaborate on the Provinceโ€™s 2025 Vision. She highlighted the significant increase in the number of Agri-Tourism Establishments in La Union over the past 6 years. She further emphasized the launching of Saluad La Union para Serbisyo, Agri-Turismo, Lako ken Oportunidad (SaLU-SALO) which is an Agri-Tourism Fair organized to aid in the economic recovery and promote the resiliency of economic sectors specifically Agri-Tourism and local Micro, Small and Medium-sized enterprises.

Gov. Rafy likewise gave credits to the entire Kaprobinsiaan for their continuous support and collaboration with the Provincial Government and LGUs that resulted to the provinceโ€™s feat, and that the nomination itself is already a big win for the entire province as it has exhibited the importance of #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan.

โ€œThe feats and accomplishments of the entire province is a result of the collective love that the people, business, and investors manifest. As it is, it is already an honor to be deliberated as one of the Most Business-Friendly provinces in the entire country, but it will be truly sweeter if La Union gets adjudged as the Most Business-Friendly province in the Philippines.โ€ Gov. Rafy proudly said.

The Governor was joined by the Provincial Administrator Agnes Grace A. Cargamento; Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Michaella Louise T. Delfinado; Provincial Treasurer Janet D. Molina; Provincial Tourism Officer Arthur S. Cortez, Jr.; Provincial Assessor Arnulfo A. Cacho; Provincial Information Officer Rowan Joshua E. Dimaculangan; Information & Communications Technology Officer II Gerry Binas-o; and Local Economic Enterprise and Investment Promotions Unit head Angela Grace C. Peralta.

The Announcement and Conferment of the Award will be done during the 48th Philippine Business Conference on October 20, 2022.
