To effectively perform their functions as Oversight Committee on Local Fees and Charges that would strengthen financial stability and resiliency in the collection performance of the province, the Provincial Government of La Unionโ€™s (PGLU) Department Heads and representatives attended a Seminar-Workshop on the Updating of Local Revenue Code - Phase 2 on July 4, 2022 at Ynadโ€™s Place Hotel and Restaurant, City of San Fernando, La Union.

Spearheaded by the Provincial Treasurerโ€™s Office (PTO), the said activity is the last part of the series of workshop designed to effectively enact and adopt the Amendments made in the existing Local Revenue Code. The Amendments of the Local Revenue Code is one way of enhancing tax impositions and ordinances which can further lead to the advancement of the programs and services that the Provincial Government can offer to all Kaprobinsiaan.

As an output for the phase 2 workshop, the participants reconstructed and reestablished the Drafts on Local Revenue Code made during the first phase of the workshop they previously attended on April 28, 2022. This was made possible with the guidance of Mr. Enrico Voltaire C. Refuerzo of the Bureau of Local Government Finance, who also served as the resource speaker. With all their hard work, the Updating of the Local Revenue Code is close to being fulfilled.

Gov. Raphaelle Veronica โ€œRafyโ€ Ortega-David showed her support to the PTO and all the participants by giving a message of gratitude and encouragement delivered by the governorโ€™s Executive Assistant, Mr. Justo โ€œTitoโ€ Orros III.

โ€œI appreciate each one's enthusiasm and dedication in putting all your effort and support in reinvigorating our Local Revenue Code in our beloved Province of La Union as we continuously commit to elevate our programs and services towards the welfare of our Kaprobinsiaan. This is a very significant platform for us to improve and strengthen the implementation of our own local revenue policies and procedures which is vital in the development of our revenue generation and resource mobilization,โ€ the lady governorโ€™s message.

Provincial Administrator Agnes Grace Cargamento, who also graced the activity, said that the seminar-workshop can be a breakthrough in bringing La Union into greater heights. She also urged other Provincial Offices to do the same and follow PGLUโ€™s Financial Sector.

As we move forward to a progressive and Stronger La Union, the PGLU is optimistic that through the empowered people leading the revenue collection of the province, La Union will have a boosting local economy for the next years ahead and that it that would lead to a better quality of life for our kaprobinsiaan.
