For this year’s Dengue Awareness Month, Bacnotan District Hospital (BDH) intensifies its anti-dengue campaign through facilitating a Dengue Awareness lecture to the patients and watchers of the Outpatient Department on June 13, 2022.

Though dengue is considered a year-round disease, occurrence usually increases during rainy season, hence, a need to strengthen information dissemination and prevention awareness.

Mr. Jay R. Bautista, Nurse I, from the Infectious Disease (Dengue Prevention) Unit, facilitated the lecture to the patients and watchers. He specifically discussed the “4-S Campaign Strategy” as a key to prevent breeding and spread of dengue-transmitting mosquitoes. 4S stands for Search and destroy; Self-protection measures; Seek early consultation; and, Say yes to fogging when there is an impending outbreak or a hotspot.

Moreso, he informed the public on the symptoms of the disease and how it affects the body. He likewise reminded the public to seek immediate medical intervention if symptoms manifests.

The Provincial Government of La Union and the BDH believes that awareness is one of the keys in establishing realizations that everybody plays a major role in taking steps to in building a cleaner and healthier home, workplace and province.
