Youthful Public Service Continues in La Union; SP Pays Tribute to BM Alyssa Sibuma, Welcomes New SK Fed Prexy

After a remarkable five-year tenure as Provincial Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) President of the Province of La Union, Hon. Alyssa Kristine B. Sibuma bid farewell to her position, leaving a legacy of inspiration and impact on the lives of young people in the province.

The 23rd Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of La Union bid farewell to outgoing Ex-Officio Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member (SPM) Hon. Alyssa Kristine B. Sibuma during the Send-off Program on November 28, 2023 at Vista La Vita, San Vicente, City of San Fernando, La Union.

The send-off program for BM Alyssa was a celebration of her dedicated service in steering the SK Federation of La Union towards positive growth. As she concluded her term, BM Alyssa expressed her gratitude to Vice Gov. Mario Eduardo C. Ortega, and the members of the 23rd SP. Likewise, she extended her heartfelt gratitude to the SP Secretariat headed by then SP Secretary Donato A. Rimando and now with Acting SP Sec. Jane T. Flores, and her office staff for the unwavering support and guidance throughout her tenure. She shared insights gained from her experiences, as well as her most memorable SP memories and lessons she learned as a provincial legislator. She also emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving the goals for the SK and for the youth sector as a whole.

She chaired the committees on Energy and on Youth and Sports development. As chair on the youth, she initiated a lot of sports activities and sports clinics throughout the province intended for the youth for them to stay away from drugs and other harmful vices. Aside from this, she authored several landmark legislations for the Province of La Union, such as the Youth Development Code, La Union Annual Youth TAOID Camp and Institutionalizing Elyulympics as the Annual Inter-Local Government Unit Sports Cup.

The send-off program was attended by various local government officials including former SPM Nancy Corazon M. Bacurnay and former Vice Gov. Aureo Augusto Q. Nisce, community leaders, outgoing and incoming SK Federation Presidents of the province, youth representatives, her family and Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) Department heads who acknowledged BM Alyssa’s exemplary leadership and contributions to the SP and to the whole PGLU. A resolution of commendation along with her table sign was presented to her as tokens of appreciation for her remarkable service.

Vice Gov. Ortega, in his message, thanked Hon. Alyssa Kristine B. Sibuma for her excellent public service as a legislator and youth leader. He added that he admired her youthful energy and on how she used this energy in bringing about positive change in the community.

Following the send-off, the spotlight shifted to the introduction and welcoming of the new set of officers of the SK Federation of La Union, with Hon. Harold Dave E. Sibuma of Aringay, La Union assuming the mantle of SK leadership in the province. The young leaders took their responsibilities, pledging to uphold the principles of service, accountability, and empowerment of the youth in the community.

In his inaugural address, SK President Harold expressed his commitment to building on the foundation laid by his predecessor. He pledged to give his utmost commitment to fulfill his duties as a Board Member of the Province of La Union. Additionally, he extended his appreciation to all the newly elected SK Presidents of the LGUs within the province.

The event was not only a transition of leadership for the provincial youth leaders but also a celebration of the resilience and dynamism of the young leaders of La Union. It marked the beginning of a new chapter for the SK La Union Federation, symbolizing the continuity of service and dedication to the welfare of the youth who are vital in the continuing pursuit of #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan.
