Unlocking Progress: La Union Embraces ICT Excellence

The Province of La Union is making great strides towards progress by recognizing the importance of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) excellence. Aligned with the National ICT Month Celebration, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), through the Office of the Provincial Governor – Information and Communications Technology Unit (OPG-ICTU), in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology Region 1 (DICT-RO1), conducted an ICT Proficiency – Diagnostic Examination on June 16, 2023, at the PDRRMO Building City of San Fernando, La Union.
The ICT Proficiency Examination is an eligibility test comparable to the Career Service Professional examination administered by the Civil Service Commission. It aims to assess and evaluate individuals' competence in programming, system analysis, and design functions – crucial skills in the digital era.
With 27 highly qualified and registered applicants, the examination drew the participation of 19 individuals who undertook the three-hour diagnostic assessment. Successful candidates from this phase will progress to the next level, a six-hour hands-on examination to further showcase their ICT proficiency.
Upon successfully completing both examinations, examinees will have the opportunity to apply for Electronic Data Processing Eligibility (EDPSE) which opens doors to permanent government positions that are closely aligned with their ICT expertise. By obtaining EDPSE, ICT professionals could enhance their prospects of securing fulfilling careers in the public service which is a way to show their support to #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan by helping the public through ICT.
The PGLU's commitment to promoting ICT excellence through diagnostic examinations underscores the province's dedication to progress. By empowering individuals with advanced ICT skills, La Union is paving the way for a future where technology propels economic growth, digital transformation, and overall societal development.
