A tourism frontliner receives her first dose of vaccine wherein she was one of the 120 individuals who were inoculated during the event.
We have further expanded our #BakunaMuna CoViD-19 vaccination program to our Tourism Frontliners as we gradually open tourism and initiate economic recovery in La Union.
Through the leadership of Gov. Francisco Emmanuel "Pacoy" R. Ortega III, and in partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region I, we ensure continuous tourism operations as our vaccination team kickstarted the vaccination of La Union Tourism Frontliners on August 17, 2021 by allotting an exclusive vaccination schedule in consideration of the safety of tourism personnel and tourists in the province.
This milestone was readily welcomed by the first batch of frontliners of tourism-related establishments from Barangay Urbiztondo, San Juan, La Union, considered as the center of tourism in the province due to its surfing attractions. Here are the moments we’ve captured along the way:
Smiles fill up the room as a frontliner proudly poses with his vaccination card. After getting their first jab, all vaccinees were reminded of the health protocols and to remember to take their second dose on their schedule.
Officer-in-Charge of La Union Provincial Tourism Office (LUPTO) Arthur Cortez, Jr. emphasizes the roles of each tourism frontliner in fighting the CoViD-19 pandemic. The LUPTO has initiated the program to give the tourism frontliners protection against the virus.
DOT-ROI Regional Director Joseph Francisco "Jeff" R. Ortega checks on how tourism frontliners are coping with the challenges of the pandemic and gives some words of encouragement as they await their turn.
We inch closer to inoculating the 3,581 eligible tourism frontliners in La Union as we have now vaccinated a total of 1,285 tourism frontliners. We continue our program to the rest of our tourism frontliners from other component LGUs.
Together, we continue to work in all our recovery efforts, as we anticipate brighter days ahead for our beloved La Union.
