The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) conducted a forum with Travel and Tour Agencies forming the first ever La Union Alliance of Travel and Tour Agencies (LUATTA) on June 8, 2018 at the La Union Agri-Tourism Center, City of San Fernando, La Union.
Tourism Division Chief of Provincial Tourism Office Mr. Arthur S. Cortez, Jr. said that the travel and tour operators are key players in the branding and marketing initiative of La Union’s Agri-Tourism development strategy through creation and promotion of tour packages.
Meanwhile, Department of Tourism Region 1 (DOT-R1) Accreditation Officer Mr. Edilberto D. Littaua talked about updates on Tourism Service Standards. He emphasized on the Accreditation System including its incentives and benefits. On the other hand, PTO Administrative Officer IV Mr. Julius A. Manabat presented the Agri-Tourism circuit theme packages. His presentation focused on the potential and major tourist attractions in the five Agri-Tourism circuits in the province.
The LUATTA shall provide support to all tourism promotions and activities of the PGLU, DOT-R1 and other related entities which aim to promote La Union.
Elected officers were Mr. Robert Ranchez of Ranchez Express Travel and Tours as President; Mr. Eduardo Regala of OLN Tour Transport as Vice-President; Ms. Jacqueline Chan of Mulan Travel Service as Secretary; Ms. Angeline Go of Atrium Travel and Tours as Treasurer; Mr. Joey Maglaya of Briggs-Kaith Travel and Tours as Auditor and Mr. Julius Capiral of Fast Travel and Tours as Public Relations Officer. The Constitution and By-Laws of LUATTA were also reviewed and approved by the 20 participating agencies.
In his closing message, Mr. Adamor L. Dagang, Provincial Touism Officer, reiterated the role of the local travel agents and tour operators in realizing Gov. Francisco Emmanuel "Pacoy" R. Ortega III’s vision to make La Union the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025. He challenged the LUATTA to unite, build network and be the voice to create awareness of what La Union has to offer in the travel and tours industry. Mr. Robert Ranchez, newly-elected LUATTA President affirmed the association’s commitment to work with the PGLU in developing tour programs and other projects to brand and market La Union as an Agri-Tourism hub.
