Tech4ED Project to be launch in La Union

To strengthen innovative E- Learning, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) in partnership with Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) led by Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III launch Technology for Economic Development (Tech4ED) Project, which aims to harness Information Communication Technology (ICT) to enable, empower, transform inclusive, integrated and equitable citizenry.

The Provincial Library located at the 5TH Floor of the La Union Provincial Administrative and Commercial Building along McArthur Highway, City of San Fernando, La Union is the established Tech4Ed Center in the province due to its accessibility to nearby by schools.

As part of this project, Mr. Romeo Panes, Field Team Leader of Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) donated computer units to PGLU. The said IT equipment will augment the needs of the Provincial Library in order to promote the Tech4ED Project of DOST.

The Tech4Ed project addresses the education divide through promoting various core services such as Alternative Learning System (ALS), Learning English Application for Pinoys (LEAP), Job Portal, Skills Training, ICT for Digital Literacy, Financial Literacy, Career Development and eTrade. Moreover, the eGovServ will provide payment portals as well as direct government services to rural communities.

The Provincial Library of the PGLU will join the nationwide celebration of Public Library Day to formally launch the Tech4Ed project in the province on March 9, 2018 in pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 563 as declared by President Carlos P. Garcia designating March 9 of every year as a National Public Library Day.
