STUDENTS BENEFIT FROM CDH’s ADOLESCENT OUTREACH

YOUNG AND EMPOWERED. Caba District Hospital (CDH) Nurse Chona B. Gachallan distributes Information Education Campaign (IEC) materials to around 213 students during the Adolescent Health Development Outreach Program on September 27, 2019 at Wenceslao National High School (WNHS), Wenceslao Caba, La Union.

Caba District Hospital (CDH) headed by Dr. Gretchen F. Aromin conducted the 6th Adolescent Health and Development Program Outreach at Wenceslao National High School (WNHS), Wenceslao, Caba, La Union on September 27, 2019.

The said activity was participated in by 213 Grades 7-12 students of WNHS. Health Programs of CDH were discussed to empower the youth with their roles in the community. The students had interactive discussions with CDH staff on vital health topics.

The students learned on Adolescent Development; Violence Against Women and Children; Awareness on Smoking Cessation and Dengue Fever; Mobile Blood Donation; Anti-Rabies Awareness; handwashing lecture and demonstration; and HIV Awareness.

Program Coordinator Nurse Geraldine T. Posadas introduced the hospital’s Adolescent Health and Youth Development Program. She also encouraged the students to support the various programs of the hospital to help achieve province’s vision to become a Healthy and Happy La Union by 2022.

Included in the program was the signing of the Pledge of Support to the Anti-Smoking Brigade by the teachers of WNHS, headed by the Principal Meriza Q. Lozano. It aimed to encourage participation of teachers and students in the advocacy to achieve a smoke-free environment.

The pledge to use antimicrobials responsibly, signed by the students, aimed to promote rational use and end the irrational use of antimicrobials. According to Department of Health Irrational use of antimicrobials contributes to the development of Antimicrobial Resistance.
