SP CONGRATULATES ATIN-LU FOR WINNING REGIONAL CULINARY COMPETITION

The 22nd Sangguniang Panlalawigan congratulates and recognizes during its Regular Session on February 23, 2021 the Officers of Association of Tourism Industries and Networks (ATIN-LU) and other La Union-Based Participants for emerging as champion at the Ilocano Culinary Heritage Pinakbet Competition held in Paoay, Ilocos Norte on February 2, 2021. ATIN-LU represented the province of La Union to the said competition which was participated in by all the provinces in Region I where they bagged the first place through its proud cuisine called “Elyu Maritangtang Pinakbet”.
The 22nd Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) recognized the Officers of Association of Tourism Industries and Networks (ATIN-LU) and other La Union-Based Participants during its Regular Session on February 23, 2021 for emerging as champion in the Ilocano Culinary Heritage Pinakbet Competition held in Paoay, Ilocos Norte on February 2, 2021.
Board Member Christian I. Rivera introduced a resolution congratulating ATIN-LU for the pride and honor it has brought to the province. The resolution underscored that the said competition is the first Ridge and Reef competition that aimed to promote culinary tourism and at the same time showcase the traditional and local recipes in the region. It was participated in by all provinces in Region 1 where the Province of La Union emerged triumphant in bagging the First Place through its proud cuisine called, “ELYU’s Maritangtang Pinakbet,” a fusion of La Union’s freshly harvested vegetable and fresh catch of maritangtang or sea urchin of the Municipality of Balaoan and cooked in a traditional style of cooking called “Tinungbo” of the Municipality of Pugo and placed in the “damili” pot of San Juan, La Union.
During the session, Mr. Xavier Mercado, one of the Officers of ATIN-LU and the owner of the famous Halo-Halo de Iloko explained the concept of the winning dish and how they presented the culture, heritage and gastronomic adventure of La Union which contributed to their success.
Ms. Lorie Jane Rosales, President of ATIN-LU, expressed her gratitude, on behalf of the organization to the SP for its unconditional support in their programs and projects particularly in their journey to the competition. She offered their achievement to the officials and the people of La Union.
ATIN-LU is one of the partner organizations of the Provincial Government in promoting sustainable agriculture, tourism and economic development of the province.
The SP Resolution Congratulating the Officers of ATIN-LU and other La Union-Based Participants for winning the Ilocano Culinary Heritage Competition was referred to the Committee on Tourism for consideration and approval.
