SM Store to Bring Jobs in Province; PESO to Assist in Recruitment Process

Boosting local employment and fostering economic growth, SM Inc. has announced the creation of hundreds of job opportunities in La Union. This development was confirmed during a courtesy call with Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David on May 15, 2024, where SM representatives discussed the integration of kaPROBINSYAnihan and local MSMEs into their operations and highlighted the essential actions needed for this initiative.

Following SM’s courtesy call with Gov. Rafy, the PESO-La Union facilitated a dialogue between SM, PESO Managers of La Union, and the Department of Labor and Employment-La Union Field Office on May 24, 2024 in Balaoan. This is to ensure that the available job opportunities in the soon-to-open SM La Union are effectively communicated and accessible to all the citizens of La Union.

During the meeting, Dexter Ramirez, Talent Acquisition Manager, and Clarissa Mae Pangilinan, Human Resources Talent Acquisition Specialist from SM, presented comprehensive details on the recruitment process and upcoming employment activities designed for local job seekers in La Union. They mentioned that there will be openings in all departments of SM, thus creating a significant pool of vacant positions. The PESO Managers also expressed their support and commitment to disseminating this information to their respective Local Government Units and kaPROBINSYAnihan.

The Provincial Government of La Union, together with its LGUs, remains committed to strengthen partnerships with SM to promote progress and development while increasing employment rate and supporting the growth of local businesses in the Province of La Union.

SM La Union’s construction in Barangay Biday, City of San Fernando is ongoing, and is expected to operate on November 2024.
