The 2024 Bael ti LUkal La Union Skills Competition was conducted on May 9 to 10, 2024 at TESDA Region 1 Grounds, City of San Fernando, La Union.
Hosted by TESDA-La Union and the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), the event highlighted the technical-vocational talents of participants from across the province.
Bael ti LUkal is a skills competition providing young kaPROBINSYAnihan with opportunities to demonstrate their vocational skills in real-life tasks aligned with industry standards, fostering a skilled workforce.
Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David, chairperson of the Provincial Technical Education and Skills Development Committee, expressed her encouragement to the participants through a video message. In the program, she was represented by Provincial Planning and Development Officer Michaela Louise T. Delfinado.
“Nais ko pong sabihin na sobrang proud po ako sa inyong lahat, not just for taking part in this year’s Bael ti LUkal, but most especially sa pagpapakita po sa buong probinsya at buong mundo na tayong mga taga-La Union ay talented and skilled pagdating sa traditional and modern crafts,” the governor said.
17 competitors participated in various trade areas, including Web Technology, Welding, Restaurant Service, Cooking, Electrical Installation, and Automotive Technology. Skills demonstrations included Bread and Tapestry Production, Cake Decoration, Bed Making, Table Skirting, Bamboo Weaving, Dish Gardening, Silk Weaving, and Bartending.
Grade 12 students from various schools in the province were also invited to observe, encouraging future participation.
TESDA-La Union Provincial Director Ruth E. Dayawen extended her appreciation to the PGLU and Gov. Rafy for the support given to the annual Provincial Skills Competition through financial, manpower, and logistical assistance that truly reflects the spirit of La Union PROBINSYAnihan.
