SILAW Street Dance Showdown Ignites La Union’s Heritage in #AYATFest2025

The Sparkling Images of La Union Agri-Tourism Wanders (SILAW) Street Dance Showdown made its comeback in #AyatFest2025 on March 2, 2025, and set the San Fernando City Auditorium, City of San Fernando, La Union ablaze with electrifying performances of local dance troupes embodying the culture of their respective towns.
The event was headed by the Provincial Government of La Union, through the La Union Provincial Tourism Office that brought together talented contingents from across the province.
In her message, Gov. Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David highlighted that while the celebration is simpler this year, may it remind KaPROBINSYAnihan of the true essence of the celebration. "Ako po ay naniniwalang ang tunay na La Union Day ay ang araw-araw na pagsisikap nating i-angat ang antas ng pamumuhay ng ating mga kaPROBINSYAnihan. Tonight, we will all witness the talent of our young kaprobinsiaan in their street dancing parade. Sure na sure po akong mapapaindak din kayo sa kanilang mga dance moves na mas pinabongga pa sa pagningning ng kanilang mga costumes and props," says the governor.
From the heart-pounding drum beats to colorful and glowing props, the participants captivated the crowd and showed them the beauty of La Union’s heritage. The event not only highlighted the province's dedication to cultural preservation but also celebrated the creativity and talents of KaPROBINSYAnihan participants.
Bacnotan's Tawid a Balitok emerged as the Champion, taking home a trophy and a cash prize of P300,000. Caba's Tribu Naparagsit, secured Second Place, bagging a trophy and a cash prize of P250,000. While City of San Fernando Street Dancers, claimed Third Place, and they were also given a trophy and P200,000, impressing the KaPROBINSYAnihan with their captivating moves.
The three winning contingents joined by Tribu Eulogiano from Bauang engaged in a community dance, celebrating the rhythm of the "LOVE La Union" jingle.
This year's SILAW honored La Union's vibrant history and showcased the spirit of #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan reflecting La Union's 175th Founding Anniversary's essence bounded in ayat for deep-rooted traditions.
