Salu-Salo Agri-Tourism Trade Fair Highlights #tatakLUcal Products, Empowers MSMEs; 16 Out of 20 Municipalities, Joined

Promoting best homegrown products in the province, Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from the component city and municipalities of La Union gathered to display a wide array of their local products during the opening of the Agri-Tourism Trade fair on March 1, 2024 at the PasaLUbong Center grounds, City of San Fernando, La Union.

The Agri-Tourism Trade Fair, dubbed as Saluad La Union para Serbisio, Agri-turismo, Lako ken Oportunidad (SaLU-SALO), was part of the activities in celebration of the 174th Founding Anniversary of the Province. This aims to promote tourism destinations, support the hardworking local farmers and provide a platform for local MSMEs to showcase and expand the market of their products.

One town, one product (OTOP) such as fresh fruits and vegetables, locally processed food products and handicrafts, specialty menus, plant ornaments, native dishes and delicacies are among the products featured in the event.

Gov. Raphaelle Veronica Ortega-David graced the opening program and attended by Vice Governor Mario Eduardo Ortega, Ex-Officio Board Member Pablo Ortega, Department of Trade and Industry La Union Provincial Director Merlie Membrere, Philippine Information Agency Region 1 Director Jennilyne Role, Provincial Administrator Francisco Emmanuel Ortega III and the Department Heads of the Provincial Government of La Union.

Gov. Rafy recognized the efforts of the partners and stakeholders in enhancing investment opportunities and development of local economy of the province.

"Taon-taon, pinaghahandaan at mas pinapalaki pa po natin ang SaLU-SALO dahil through this celebration, we get to give back sa ating mga stakeholders and partners na naging malaking parte ng growth ng ating probinsya. Hence, I would like to recognize and acknowledge our Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises and our Agri-Business Sector for making our local economy thrive and alive." the lady governor said

Attracting the spectators are the Agri-Tourism Booths adorned with creative designs, reflecting the identity, culture and creativity of every municipality. The booths will be participating in the Search for the Best Agri-Tourism Booth.

Adding vibrancy and festive vibes in the event is the Parada iti Pasagad wherein cows, dressed in colorful attire and carrying a cart showcasing the locally produced of farmers, paraded the streets of the City of San Fernando. This manifest the celebration of the bountiful harvest of farmers and rich identity of the province for this year.

Alongside with the event is the "Ang Pinaka! Agri-fishery HarBest!" and the Agri-Aqua Clinic.

Simultaneous to the event is the launching of the SaLU-SALO Night Market that promotes the rich food heritage of the province featuring the flavorful and appetizing local dishes of La Union.

KaPROBINSYAnihan was captivated in the opening of the SaLU-SALO light display that illuminated the PasaLUbong Center grounds with vibrant color of lights.

The Salu-SALO Agri-Tourism Fair is a testament of #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan that give farmers, fisherfolks and local entrepreneurs the platform to showcase their world-class produces and unique skills. This will run until March 15, 2024 with different interesting activities.

As La Union gears to be the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025, PGLU led by Gov. Rafy will continue to provide support and interventions to the local farmers and to the local MSMEs to strengthen the agriculture sector and enhance the economic growth of the province.
