The Local Government of Rosario through the leadership of Mayor Bellarmin “Red” C. Flores III celebrated the 11th Linubian Festival and 149th Foundation Anniversary of Rosario from April 17 to 29, 2018 at the Municipality of Rosario, La Union.

The festivity included Street Dancing Competition wherein Linubian making process was interpreted in the presentations of seven schools in Rosario. The Search for Binibining Rosario, as one of the most awaited part of the fiesta, was attended by celebrity guests bringing entertainment to the crowd.

An Agri-Trade Fair was also held and was participated-in by the 33 barangays in Rosario showcasing their farm products. The launching of Agri-Trade Fair of the Rosario District Hospital was graced by SPM Larry Flores that coincided with the 46th foundation anniversary of the hospital, in line with the vision of Governor Pacoy to transform La Union as the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025.

Every sector of the community such as the business, education, agriculture, health, religious, transportation and the Indigenous Peoples contributed in the celebration.

One of the highlights of the festival was the Linubian Making contest. Participating Barangays innovated Linubian in terms of flavor and presentation using their “al-o” and “al-song” (mortar and pestle). This showcases the true representation of culture and tradition of the town.

Linubian is a native cake derived from pounded cassava using “al-o and al-song” and considered as one of the favorite snacks of the inhabitants of the said town.

Linubian Festival was approved and adapted by then Mayor Bellarmin “Larry” A. Flores II, now a member of the Provincial Legislative Board of La Union. It was initiated by then Sangguniang Bayan Member Bellarmin “Red” C. Flores III, currently the Municipal Mayor of Rosario.
