The La Union Provincial Jail (LUPJ) under the supervision of Provincial Warden Ret. Col. Virgilio C. Pascua, Jr., highlighted unity and patriotism through the conduct of a flag-raising ceremony of personnel joined by Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) at the LUPJ, Camansi, City of San Fernando, La Union on July 15, 2024.

This inclusive practice symbolizes respect and commitment to positive change, allowing PDL to participate actively in the ceremony by leading the singing of the national anthem and delivering messages of inspiration. It also underscores the values of responsibility, accountability, and belonging, fostering a sense of purpose within the confines of the jail facility.

The flag-raising ceremony is not just a routine event but a moment of reflection and unity that transcends differences and emphasizes common values. Through the leadership of Gov. Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David, and the dedication of the jail personnel and administration staff, this best practice exemplifies the principles of respect, discipline, and unity, creating a daily opportunity for PDL to reaffirm their commitment to transformation. Indeed, the Provincial Government of La Union continues to call for La Union PROBINSYAnihan for positive change achievable through respect and a shared sense of purpose that begins within oneself.
