Mr. Adel Evangelista of Geodata Systems Technologies presents the proposed Provincial Geographic Information System Cluster to all concerned Department Heads, Officers-in-Charge and employees of the Provincial Government of La Union on March 14, 2019 at the Agri-Tourism Center, City of San Fernando, La Union.

With the aim to connect all the 19 municipalities and one city of La Union to the province in terms of data management, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) headed by Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III will be adopting the Geographic Information System (GIS) within this year.

The new system is geared towards a better and smarter decision making, reliable government transaction, knowledge management sharing and a more efficient organization.

Having a GIS allows an organization to expand GIS investment from provincial to municipal level. It also has the ability to facilitate planning, monitoring, and geo-tagging of provincial facilities and services. Finally, it helps the Local Government Units to earn more revenue such as in Real Property Tax by helping the Municipal Assessors in easily locating and identifying properties and owners.

Mr. Adel Evangelista of Geodata Systems Technologies, discussed about the benefits of having the GIS as a tool in monitoring the different management status of the province while Ms. Patricia Algora gave an overview on the ArcGIS platform and its applications.

For better understanding, a short demo on how to use, navigate, monitor, edit, and customize the ArcGIS platform and its applications was also conducted.

This information system will be a big help to improve accuracy and currency of data, modernize workflows, and support citizen engagements. Indeed ArcGIS is a must-have in the province and in the municipalities to attain the vision of having a friendly knowledge management sharing within the province and to its constituents.
