Provincial Development Council Adopts New Composition

Gov. Pacoy presides over the Provincial Development Council (PDC) meeting being the PDC Chairperson on September 26, 2019 at Hotel Ariana, Paringao, Bauang, La Union. Highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the new composition of the council.
The new composition of the Provincial Development Council (PDC) was presented during a special meeting on September 26, 2019 at Hotel Ariana, Paringao, Bauang, La Union.
Highlights of the meeting were the orientation of members on the PDC functions; discussion of the salient points of the PDC Internal Rules and Regulations; presentation of the newly accredited Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in La Union; presentation and approval of the Climate Change Responsive Integrated River Basin Management and Development Master Plan for the Cluster 1 River Basin; selection of the CSO representative in the PDC Sectoral Committees; and the approval of the creation of the Provincial Gender and Development Committee (PGADC).
PDC Chairperson Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III presided over the meeting. Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Michaela Louise T. Delfinado presented the new composition of the PDC and acknowledged the new CSO-members.
Mr. Cristino Tiburan, Jr. from the University of the Philippines Los Baños presented the Climate Change-Responsive Integrated River Basin Management and Development Master Plan (IRBMDMP) for the Cluster 1 River Basin (Amburayan, Baroro and Bauang). The said project aimed to formulate an IRBMDMP for the eight clustered river basins. The IRBMDMP has three phases: Phase I is the midterm report comprising the ecological profiling of the watershed, report on climate vulnerability assessment and IRBMD strategy; Phase II is the draft master plan report; and Phase III is the final report duly accepted by the Regional Development Council (RDC). Recognizing the advantages and benefits of the project to local communities in La Union, the body approved the proposed Development Master Plan for adoption.
The PDC members also approved the CSO representatives and their respective sectoral committees. They likewise approved the creation of the PGADC to empower women and mainstream gender and development efforts and initiatives in the province.
