Twenty component Local Government Units in the Province of La Union exhibited their support to the Provincial Government of La Unionโs peace and safety advocacy by entering a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) in the establishment of La Union Peace, Order, and Public Safety System (POPPS) in the entire province.
Last June 29, 2022, the Information and Communication Technology Unit (ICTU) of the PGLU had a courtesy call with all the municipal mayors and pushed through with the MOA signing.
After the completion of the La Union Wireless Mesh High Speed Local Network Backbone or the โProvincial Wireless Meshโ and installation of radio antennas and relay stations in 2019, the PGLU intents to commence the establishment of POPPS in 2022.
The said project aims to establish a province-wide Peace and Order and Public Safety-Emergency Operations Center (POPS-EOC) that shall serve as an emergency response hub to monitor the peace, order, and public safety of all critical areas and tourist spots in the province. More so, additional infrastructures and equipment such as CCTV cameras and servers, Public Address System (Paging System) and Video Management Software shall be installed for better response to Public Safety, Crime Prevention, Evidence, Sense of Security and Policy Monitoring.
In addition to this, the ICTU together with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (PDRRMO) conducted a meeting with the PC Craft Computer Technologies Inc., the awarded Supplier and Provider, to discuss the schedule of works and other matters regarding the operation of the said project last June 30, 2022 at the 2nd Floor, LUPOS Building, Sevilla, City of San Fernando, La Union.
The PGLU continues to cope with the fast-emerging digital transformation as it remains committed in strengthening the peace and order and public safety of its constituents through the above-mentioned project for a stronger La Union, a province worth living in.
