PPOC, LUADAC AFFIRM PEACEFUL LA UNION IN 3RD QUARTER MEETING

La Union peace, order, and public safety have been affirmed in the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) and La Union Anti-Drug Abuse Council (LUADAC) during the 3rd Quarter Joint Meeting of the Councils on October 10, 2024, via video conferencing.

The 2025 Proposed Budget Allocation for Peace, Order, and Public Safety (POPS) was reported highlighting that it grew from 1% in 2024 to 2% in 2025 amounting to over P45.3 Million for different proposed and continuing POPS programs, projects, and activities such as the provision of logistical support to the law enforcement agencies, cime prevention, anti-drug abuse and public safety programs, among others.

The Resolution on the Provision of Financial or Technical Support to the Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation Program of Component LGUs of the Province of La Union such as psychosocial counseling, detoxification program by alternative medicine, drug testing, and neuro-psychiatric treatment by referral to a higher level of care for treatment was also presented and approved.

3rd Quarter of 2024 Accomplishment Reports on Anti-Criminality showing a total of 223 Arrested Wanted Persons; Anti-Illegal Drug where 96.53% of La Union Barangays are drug-free and drug-cleared while the Top 1 Provincial Target has been arrested; and Anti-Insurgency where their proactive sustainment activities during disaster have been highlighted.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government also reported that there is 100% submission of the POPS Plan 2023 1st Sem 2024 Accomplishment Reports and CSO Security Clearance for all local government units (LGUs) and the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU). A total of P416,000 worth of financial assistance for former rebels was also awarded under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).

The successful conduct of the Usapang BIDA attended by 130 anti-drug advocates was also discussed. Status of Joint Resolutions of the PPOC and LUADAC were also presented including the plans moving forward.

In the spirit of La Union PROBINSYAnihan, the PGLU remains an active partner and support to the PPOC and LUADAC in upholding peace, order, and public safety in the province for all kaPROBINSYAnihan.
