PPOC: La Union Remains Generally Peaceful; PPOC–LUADAC Conducts 3rd Quarter Meeting

To ensure a safe, secured, and orderly province, the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) and La Union Anti-Drug Abuse Council (LUADAC) conducted their 3rd Quarter Joint Meeting on September 13, 2023 via video conferencing wherein it was asserted that La Union remains to be generally peaceful.
The amended Executive Order of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) of La Union was presented during the meeting adopting recommendations. Presentation of Calendar Year 2023 Third Quarter Anti-Criminality and Anti-illegal Drug Accomplishment Reports were also covered.
As per report, the Crime Environment shows a total crime volume of 229 incidents from July 1 to September 9, 2023 wherein 56% fall under Public Safety including Vehicular Traffic Incidents and other Quasi Offenses; and 44% fall under Peace and Order Indicator including index and non-index crimes, and special laws. The number is 10 incidents higher than the previous quarter. This can be attributed to reinforced patrol operations and checkpoints.
Anti-illegal Drug Accomplishments show that there are only 41 La Union barangays yet to be drug cleared out of 576. Within the seven conducted operations, there were 4 arrested drug personalities of which two are high value targets. A total of 27 Demand Reduction Efforts were conducted within the quarter.
A total of 168 Wanted Persons were also apprehended wherein six of which are most wanted person without reward and 162 other wanted persons.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government also presented their report where there is 100% submission of Peace and Order Council Reports and 100% local government units (LGUs) with Civil Society Organization Documents submitted including seven LGUs with approved CSO Security Clearance.
Campaigns and activities were also presented including the Reorientation on Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program; Linggo ng Kabataan Celebration: Youth Camp/Leadership Training Cum Bidang 4k: Kabataan Kaagapay sa Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran cum Capacitating Urban Communities For Peace and Development Program; Training of Trainers on Barangay Drug Clearing Program Advocacy and Drug-Free Workplace Policy; and the scheduled Rollout of the Localized NAP-PCVE; and the Strengthening Institutional Capacities for Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council.
Status of different LUADAC and joint PPOC-LUADAC Resolutions and plans moving forward were also presented while the Peace, Order and Public Safety proposed Budget for 2024 amounting to P36,495,680.00 was also presented and approved by the council.
The Provincial Government of La Union, in the spirit of La Union PROBINSYAnihan, remains to be an active partner of the PPOC and LUADAC in preserving the peace and order in the province as Gov Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David recognizes the joint councils’ commitment and collaboration to preserve harmony in La Union.
