A sweet way of bringing together families and friends this holiday season is coming to eLyU! Through the initiative of Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III, the Provincial Capitol will once again turn into a Christmas Hill starting on November 29 for the “Pasko sa Kapitolyo 2019.”

As the Provincial Government of La Union’s treat, the month-long Christmas event aims to bring the Christmas spirit to the public through various attractions and shows this Yuletide season.

“Pasko Sa Kapitolyo 2019” features a “Candy Land” theme. In a press conference, Provincial Administrator Jennifer Joan O. Maguiat said, “Candy land is for everybody…we associate candy land with festivity and merriment.”

The Provincial Capitol Building, Filipino-Chinese Friendship Pagoda, Heroes Hill, Sunken Garden, Orros Park will be filled with colorful lights, candy decorations, Instagram-worthy stations, and fun-filled activities.

Since Filipinos love food and shopping, stalls will be available for visitors to enjoy in the Christmas Bazaar. Tables and benches will be available around the area.

“Santa Gov” will roam around the village to give gifts to the kids. Games and band concerts will be held. This year will be brighter as more activities and surprises await.

Fridays to Sundays will be “Children’s Day,” where puppet, bubble and magic shows; pyromusical displays; chorale performances; dance showdowns; mime artist; and acrobatic and acoustic band performances will be seen.

The “Pasko Sa Kapitolyo” also aims to promote the Provincial Capitol as a tourist destination, reaching out to the people and their families.

The celebration of the “Pasko sa Kapitolyo” is in accordance to Sangguniang Panlalawigan Ordinance No. 173-2019 institutionalizing the same.
