PGLU Steps Up Effort Towards Water Security and Resiliency

Responding to the call for La Union PROBINSYAnihan in protecting the environment, the Provincial Government of La Union through the Provincial Government – Environment and Natural Resources Office (PG-ENRO) and Provincial Health Office (PHO) in partnership with Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Environmental Management Bureau Region 1 led a consultation and action planning workshop with component Local Government Units (LGUs) in developing plans and programs to address the issues and concerns on water supply from the month of June to July 2023.
Among the plans and programs laid down during the action planning workshop were the establishment of rainwater collector system in public facilities, upgrading of water supply facility/service, establishment of desalination facility, introduction of innovative water treatment technologies, reforestation projects, strengthening of enforcement of environmental laws, creation of water conservation committee in each component LGUs, review/revisit of the sanitation and environment code, strengthening of water quality monitoring activity, capacity building, and awareness campaign.
Present during the workshops were the Local Chief Executives, Sangguniang Bayan Members, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officers, Municipal Health Officers, Municipal Planning and Development Coordinators, representatives from DENR-EMB Region 1, PHO, and PG-ENRO.
Through the continued #LaUnion Probinsyanihan effort to harmonize and unify our plans with the National and Local Government Units in addressing challenges in water supply in the Province, the Provincial Government of La Union led by Gov. Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David gears up its strategic action plans to overcome water challenges and ensure a safe and sufficient water supply in the Province.
