In a series of benchmarking activities with the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), the Provincial Information Technology Division (PITD) of Nueva Vizcaya engaged in knowledge-sharing sessions with the PGLU’s Office of the Provincial Governor - Information and Communications Technology Unit (OPG-ICTU) on August 23, 2024.
Led by Ms. Sherlyn B. Fernandez, Information Technology Officer II, the Nueva Vizcaya delegation aimed to learn from PGLU’s innovative ICT practices, focusing on successful initiatives and strategies that could be implemented in their own province.
OPG-ICTU Unit Head Gerry D. Binas-o and his team presented the Unit's Programs, Projects, and Activities (PPAs), highlighting PGLU's comprehensive approach to ICT integration including the La Union Peace, Order, and Public Safety System (LUPOPSS) project aimed at enhancing community safety.
The Nueva Vizcaya delegates were particularly interested in understanding the factors that have contributed to PGLU's ICT success, particularly in software development, network infrastructure, ICT upgrades, and the LUPOPSS program.
Following the knowledge-sharing session, the Nueva Vizcaya delegation toured the Capitol Building and visited the Data Center at the LUPOS Building in Sevilla, San Fernando City, La Union. This hands-on experience complemented their knowledge-sharing session and provided a tangible understanding of PGLU’s ICT framework in action.
Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David expressed her support for the collaboration between the two provinces and emphasized the importance of inter-provincial cooperation in advancing ICT initiatives to improve public service delivery and governance.
By continuing to share knowledge and best practices, both provinces hope to leverage technology for transformative change, ensuring that their constituents benefit from efficient, innovative, and responsive governance.
