Under the leadership of Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) proudly represented the Philippines as the lone Local Government Unit and one of the 10 selected participants from the country at the Conference on Productivity Gainsharing held on October 11, 2024 in Lao PDR. The PGLU delegation was represented by Dr. Jerome C. Orate, Development Management Officer III of the Provincial Planning and Development Office.
The conference brought together policymakers, agribusiness leaders, and rural development advocates from various Asian Productivity Organization (APO) member economies to explore innovative gainsharing models for rural development. With the goal of ensuring equitable distribution of productivity improvements among rural stakeholders, the event aligned with the APO Vision 2025, promoting sustainable and inclusive socioeconomic growth throughout Asia-Pacific economies.
The PGLU remains steadfast in its commitment to achieving La Union’s vision of becoming the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon. By participating in international conferences like this, PGLU aims to gain valuable knowledge and insights that will help the province develop and implement effective gainsharing strategies. These efforts are critical to addressing rural development challenges, such as limited market access, rapid urbanization, and environmental sustainability.
Aligned with its call for La Union PROBINSYAnihan, the PGLU’s participation highlights its dedication to fostering collaboration and unity within the community, ensuring that the benefits of productivity improvement are shared equitably among rural stakeholders.
The PGLU’s representation at the conference underscores its commitment to a balanced and inclusive approach to rural development, ensuring a prosperous future for the province and its people.
