With the aim to further improve the detection of CoViD-19 cases in the province and increase the collection of specimens, a Training and Actual Demo on Proper Specimen Collection, Packaging and Storage on the procedure in handling and dealing with CoViD-19 was spearheaded by the Provincial Health Office (PHO) at the Home of Hope Provincial Isolation Facility, Acao, Bauang, La Union.

A total of 75 participants joined the said training where an Orientation on the Fundamentals of Biosafety and Biosecurity was also done. The Department of Health headed the conduct of training. The participants are practicing medical-related professionals from the PHO and component local government units who can now be tapped as swabbers.

There were six participants from PHO, 10 from Agoo, seven from Bacnotan, one from Bagulin, two from Balaoan, five from Bauang, two from Burgos, 22 from the City of San Fernando, two from Luna, three from Naguilian, four from Pugo, three from Rosario, four from Santo Tomas, and four from Sudipen.

To ensure adherence to health protocols, an online discussion was conducted on October 15, 2021 and the face-to-face demonstration was conducted on four batches on October 20 and 21, morning and afternoon sessions.

The activity is in accordance to the Prevention-Detection-Isolation-Treatment-Reintegration Strategy of the Provincial Government in accordance with the IATF Guidelines.
