Dator orients the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) workers together with their parents and guardians during the SPES Orientation on May 23, 2018 at the 3rd Floor LUPAC Bldg., Quezon Avenue, City of San Fernando, La Union.
The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) through the Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO) conducted an orientation to the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) Workers together with their parents and guardians on May 23, 2018 at the PESO Office, City of San Fernando, La Union.
The event included the signing of SPES Employment Contracts and Oath of Undertaking, ID photo capturing and registration of biometrics at the Provincial Capitol. The 36 SPES Beneficiaries will work from June 1 - 30, 2018 and will be assigned to the different department/offices in the Provincial Government of La Union. The PGLU will shoulder 60% of the salary while the 40% will be paid by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
SPES is one of the programs of PESO that aims to help poor but deserving students to encourage and provide employment for them to gain income and in someway help in financing their education.
This program is mandated under Republic Act 10917/DOLE Department Order No. 175 Series of 2017. The implementation of this program also demands for a joint undertaking among Local Government Units (LGUs) through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), Department of Labor & Employment (DoLE), Department of Education (DepEd) and Department of Finance. Therefore, in order to have clear statement of coordination with these agencies, The Provincial Government of La Union through PESO express its support for this program implementation by providing its financial and logistic support to be able to attain the objectives of the program.
SPES is an excellent training ground for students to discover and develop their skills as they go on with their studies. This program has always been a part of PGLU’s development agenda for education and employment since 1994.
