The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) is set to establish environmental support technologies and infrastructures such as waste disposal facilities, treatment facilities, and material recovery facilities to safeguard environmental integrity and ensure sustainable tourism in the Province.

The Environment and Natural Resources Office and Provincial Engineering Office spearheaded a consultative meeting with concerned local government units (LGUs) regarding these projects on April 23, 2021 via video conferencing.

The said meeting was presided by EnP. Annalyn Rosario-Valdez, Supervising Environmental Management Specialist. Present during the meeting were Engr. Ressie A. Estrella, Provincial Engineer and Engr. Sarah Raquepo of the Provincial Engineering Office.

As the PGLU envisions to become the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025, it is imperative to put in place various environmental infrastructure projects. Readiness of LGUs as to regulatory requirements prior to construction is currently being assessed.

The PGLU, as an enabling LGU, works in synergy with the component municipalities and city in attaining the vision of the Province.
