In support of local business growth and youth empowerment, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), led by Governor Rafy Ortega-David, recently partnered with Go Negosyo to bring Youthpreneur and 3M On Wheels (3MOW) to the province. This collaboration marks the first official partnership and La Union PROBINSYAnihan between PGLU and Go Negosyo, aimed at strengthening the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector and fostering a new generation of young entrepreneurs in the province.
The Youthpreneur program, held on October 11, 2024, at Bacnotan National High School, brought together 300 senior high school students. This initiative provided hands-on entrepreneurship mentoring with 36 local mentors sharing insights and experiences to inspire and educate the students. Youthpreneur is crafted specifically for young Filipinos, positioning entrepreneurship as a viable career path and an alternative to traditional employment, equipping participants with essential business knowledge and skills.
On the following day, October 12, 2024, the 3MOW event took place at CSI the City Mall in San Fernando, La Union. This free, nationwide mentorship platform provided onsite, one-on-one mentorship sessions for 158 aspiring and established MSMEs, facilitated by 29 experienced local business mentors. Through practical, tailored advice, participants gained critical knowledge to enhance their business practices, build resilience, and contribute to the local economy.
Both programs fall under the KAYA CON MSME Summit, established through Sangguniang Panlalawigan Ordinance No. 30-2021, mandating an annual MSME Congress. The ordinance reflects PGLU’s commitment to promoting the growth and sustainability of MSMEs, with Go Negosyo’s mission to cultivate an innovative and resourceful entrepreneurial spirit aligning seamlessly with the province’s development goals.
With Gov. Rafy in full support, the PGLU, through the Local Economic Enterprise and Investment Promotion Office, will continue fostering a thriving business environment for both emerging and established entrepreneurs, paving the way for a sustainable future powered by empowered youth and resilient MSMEs.
