PGLU, LGUs, DENR-EMB Collabs for Improved Sanitary Landfill Operations in LU

In order to continuously ensure the environmental sustainability in the province, the Provincial Government of La Union invited the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) Region 1 to discuss topics on Sanitary Landfill Facility during the 3rd Quarter Environmental Management Coordinator’s Meeting on August 23, 2021.
Among the discussions were topics on sanitary landfilling methods, guidelines on design and construction, operating criteria and regulatory requirements/permits of a Sanitary Landfill Facility. All aligned to strengthen PGLU’s #KalikasanNaman Campaign.
Engr. Rhemelyn L. Calaoagan of DENR-EMB Region 1 presented the topic on sanitary landfill operations management; followed by Mr. Charlie O. Balanon of the local government unit (LGU) of Bacnotan who presented the best practices of Category I Sanitary Landfill Operations; then Engr. Sheila May O. Anongos of LGU-City of San Fernando who presented the best practices of Category II Sanitary Landfill Operations.
