The Municipal Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of Bacnotan, La Union in collaboration with the Provincial PESO successfully conducted a two-day Jobs Fair on December 22-23, 2021 at PESO Bacnotan, Legislative Building, Bacnotan, La Union.
Present to grace the opening of the said Virtual Jobs Fair were Municipal Mayor Francisco Angelito L. Fontanilla, Vice Mayor and PESO Manager Divina C. Fontanilla and Human Resource Officer Ms. Blanche A. Encarnacion.
In his message, Mayor Fontanilla expressed his gratitude to the Provincial Government of La Union headed by Gov. Francisco Emmanuel โPacoyโ R. Ortega III and the Department of Labor and Employment - La Union Field Office for the assistance provided in making the virtual jobs fair in their municipality possible.
PESO Bacnotan received 200 online registrations for the Virtual Jobs Fair. 95 registered job seekers underwent virtual job interviews with the four participating local employers. A total of 160 vacancies were offered during the 2-day jobs fair which include restaurant crew, housekeeping, food and beverage crew, HR assistant, liaison personnel, tobacco worker, recorder, accounting clerk, driver, section supervisor, sales representative and Bad Order Custodian. Five applicants were hired on-the-spot.
Also on December 23, 2021, the Department of Information and Communications Technology Luzon Cluster I headed by Regional Director Nestor S. Bongato, CESO V launched the Technology for Education, Employment, Entrepreneurs and Economic Development (Tech4Ed) Center at the Bacnotan Municipal PESO. Dir. Bongato commended the Municipal Government of Bacnotan and the Provincial PESO for bridging employment opportunities to the people through a virtual platform. Bacnotan is the first municipality in the province to conduct a Virtual Jobs Fair in 2021.
