To further invigorate an eco-friendly and sustainable lifestyle among KaPROBINSYAnihan, the Provincial Government of La Union, through the Provincial Government of La Union – Environment and Natural Resource Office (PG-ENRO), conducted the Waste-to-Cash Program entitled the Aling Tindera Program in celebration of Earth Day 2024 on April 22, 2024.

The main objective of the activity was to encourage everyone to reduce their plastic consumption and practice proper trash segregation. In partnership with HOPE Business for Good and Century Tuna, participants turned in plastic waste such as plastic bottles, tarpaulins, and styrofoams, among others, in exchange for Century Tuna products or cash incentivized by weight. A total of 4.776 tons of plastics were collected from the 16 local government units that showed their support and were exchanged for 200 boxes of Century Tuna and Php 554.00 in cash.

The Aling Tindera Program is under HOPE Business for Good’s flagship program which aims to divert plastics away from nature, provide incremental income to communities, encourage behavioral change, and educate the public about responsible plastic waste management. PGLU forwards this initiative in its #KalikasanNaman Movement and its commitment to increase the province’s waste diversion efforts provided in the 10-Year Solid Waste Management Plan of La Union.
