The Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment – Regional Office I (DOLE-RO1) facilitated a Virtual Capacity Building Activity for the local government unit PESOs in the Province of La Union on the JobStart Philippines Program (JPP) on August 25, 2021 via video conferencing.
DOLE’s JobStart Philippines Program was designed to enhance the employability of “at-risk youth” to improve their integration into productive employment. Through the capacity building activity, La Union PESOs were able to grasp new learnings about the employment facilitation services including job search assistance, free technical and life skills trainings, placement in internships, and job referrals.
During the activity, Resource Speaker, Labor and Employment Officer III Dionne Cleo M. Cruz of DOLE-RO1 discussed the process of JPP through collaboration with the private sector to hire beneficiaries as interns under the program. She presented the roles and responsibilities of the PESO as the implementing agency of the JPP in job matching, referrals and interview arrangement of JPP trainees with the participating employers.
The JPP aims to give the youth an access to decent employment that will allow them to use their energy and creativity to foster social cohesion and bring their families out of poverty. The webinar session was attended by 33 participants from the different PESOs of component LGUs in the Province of La Union.
