As part of the National Clean Air Month celebration, the PGLU, through ENRO, in partnership with LTO ROI, DENR-EMB ROI, and LGU Bauang, conducted a roadside anti-smoke belching operation on November 10, 2021, in Barangay Nagrebcan, Bauang, La Union.
The LTO ROI Apprehending Officers flagged down vehicles suspected of violation of emission standards through visual signs. The DENR-EMB I Anti-Smoke Belching Team leads emission testing using their gas analyzer for gasoline-fueled vehicles and opacimeter for diesel-fueled vehicles. A total of 74 vehicles were randomly inspected and tested, where 43 of them are gas-fueled vehicles, and 31 of them are diesel-fueled vehicles. Six (6) gas-fueled vehicles failed the emission test. The drivers of vehicles that failed the emission test were recommended to undergo check-ups and regular maintenance to prevent smoke-belching of their vehicle.
