PGLU Honors Women Employees; Enforces Gender Development Advocacy

Guided by the leadership of Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega David—an empowered woman and champion of gender equality—the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) took part in the National Women’s Month Celebration, culminating the event on March 31, 2025, at the Speaker Pro-Tempore Francisco I. Ortega Convention Center in Brgy. Sevilla, City of San Fernando, La Union.
Central to the event was the recognition of the Ten Outstanding Women of the PGLU, a tribute to female employees who exemplify strength, resilience, and excellence in both their professional and personal lives. Anna May Saquing of the Provincial Treasurer’s Office; Joy Ann Gurtiza of the La Union Provincial Tourism Office; Vanessa Badua of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist; Diana Jutba of the Provincial Government - Environment and Natural Resources Office; Valirie Ann Flores of the Office of the Provincial Governor (OPG) - Security Services Unit; Leah Castañeda of the OPG - Bids and Awards Committee Suporting Unit; Jane Flores of the Office of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan; Eileen Rose Tacadena of the Provincial General Services Office; Michaela Louise Javier of the Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Office; and Jamie Rose Mifa of the OPG - Information and Communication Technology Office were the hailed awardees for this year.
The program also featured a brief talk on women empowerment with two featured speakers. Mary Jane C. Ortega shared concepts of leading beyond politics, breaking barriers, and leading with purpose, while Dr. Richelle Mendoza-Villar emphasized the importance of self-care, a good skincare routine, and embracing graceful aging.
The event served as an avenue to recognize the invaluable contributions of women in public service as well as promote gender-sensitive programs of the PGLU within the sector. Through meaningful discussions, rightful recognition, and Gov. Rafy’s dynamic example, the PGLU demonstrates its commitment to continuously uplift the province’s #EmpowHERedElyucana.
