By: Jo Emmanuel P. Verzola, GPC-HRMU

The Office of the Provincial Administrator - Human Resource Management Unit (OPA-HRMU) held the first ever send-off program for the retirees of the Provincial Government of La Union for CY 2019 at the Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union on June 21, 2019. A total of 19 retirees participated in the event.

First Lady Vini Nola A. Ortega, new head of La Union Vibrant Women, Inc. (LUVWI), encouraged the retirees to join in her future endeavors of bringing back the old customs of respectful youth. She also shared her plans of extending the reach of the LUVWI and invited the retirees to join her in the organization's feats.

As a tribute to them, a video message presentation from their respective heads was shown. As a symbol of appreciation and gratitude to their years of service, the Provincial Government of La Union, under the leadership of Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III, also presented the retirees simple tokens.

In his message, Gov. Pacoy, duly represented by Executive Assistant IV Mr. Justo Orros, stressed that the employees are the most essential asset of the organization. This was followed by a toast of Ube Wine, a La Union product available at the Pasalubong Center, shared among the retirees.

The send-off program was a recommendation of First Lady Vini Ortega to the OPA-HRMU as means of the PGLU in expressing their deepest gratitude to its retirees for the years of dedicated service they have rendered to the government and the people of La Union. According to her, it was a joint idea with Gov. Pacoy inspired by Doc. Mauro Libatique, former Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator, in one of the Cabinet meetings held prior to the retirement of the latter.
