The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) – La Union facilitated their orientation on June 6, 2018 at the 5th Floor, LUPAC Bldg., Quezon Ave., City of San Fernando, La Union.
PESO-La Union, assisted by Department of Labor & Employment (DOLE) La Union Field Office, provided assistance to the students together with their parents/guardian in said activity. The activity included signing of contracts of the SPES Workers along with their parent/s or guardian, ID photo capturing and registration of biometrics.
La Union PESO Manager Ms. Charito C. Dator oriented the SPES Workers on its objectives, programs and services. She also talked about office decorum, duties and responsibilities of a SPES worker and conducted coaching on the needed skills and proper work attitude.
DOLE – La Union SPES Focal Person Mr. Fredderick L. Gaerlan provided an overview of the SPES, discussed the guidelines on SPES implementation, screening process. He also discussed the needed requirements and the process of claiming their salary.
SPES Workers will receive 60% of their total salary amounting to P 5,732.76 from the Provincial Government of La Union and the remaining 40% amounting to P 3,821.84 will be claimed at the DOLE– La Union Field Office for the complete duration of SPES working period from June 10 – July 8, 2019. Each of the students will receive a daily wage rate of P 477.73. A GSIS insurance with 6 months coverage will also be provided to all SPES workers. The 43 SPES workers will be assigned to the different offices in the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU).
SPES is mandated under Republic Act No. 7323 otherwise known as an Act To Help Poor But Deserving Students Pursue Their Education By Encouraging Their Employment During Summer and/or Christmas Vacations. The Provincial Government of La Union through the leadership of Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III, through PESO has always been in consistent partnership with DOLE–RO1 in the implementation of education and employment programs in the province. SPES has always been a part of PGLU’s development agenda for education and employment.
