PGLU Gives Hybrid Rice and Veggie Seeds, Foliar Fertilizers to Farmers

Provincial Agriculturist Ramon F. Laudencia enjoins agricultural key players to fully support the agriculture programs of the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) during the Turn-over Ceremonies of Hybrid Rice and vegetable seeds and foliar fertilizers on May 28, 2019 at the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist grounds, City of San Fernando, La Union. The said agricultural intervention came from the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office 1 (DA-RFO 1) and the PGLU.

A total of 6,882 packs of hybrid rice seeds, 1365 packs of assorted hybrid vegetable seeds, and, 4939 boxes of foliar fertilizers were released by the Provincial Government of La Union though the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg) to farmer-recipients of the Province of La Union on May 28, 2019 at the OPAg grounds, City of San Fernando, La Union.

Provincial Agriculturist Ramon F. Laudencia, in his message, stressed the need for the agricultural key players to fully support the agriculture programs of the provincial government. He also urged everybody to start utilizing the planting materials to generate higher production yield for 2019. He likewise encouraged the farming communities to adopt the new technologies being advocated by agricultural experts to eventually come-up with an equally comparative yield with other model rice producing provinces which have exceeded their normal production targets over the years. Lastly, he thanked the national government, through the Department of Agriculture (DA), for continuously supporting the province in its quest to offer the best opportunities for the farmers and fisher-folks of La Union.

“As we undertake these interventions from the DA and the Provincial Government of La Union, it is my hope that our rice and vegetable production outputs for CY 2019 would even be higher as we together rally behind Governor Pacoy’s administration thrust of a better quality of life for our farmers and fisher-folks and to fully respond to the food security program of government.” Laudencia said as he led the turn-over ceremonies.

Accordingly, the said seed intervention of nine hybrid rice varieties covers an area of 29,184 hectares of rice-fields as per earlier on-site validation by the OPAg technical team.
