HOLY WEEK REFLECTIONS. Gov. Francisco Emmanuel "Pacoy" R. Ortega III greets the Capitol employees during the First Monday Flag Raising Program on April 2, 2018 at the Capitol Grounds, City of San Fernando, La Union. Gov. Pacoy expressed his gratitude to the Almighty Father for the abundant blessings bestowed upon the province.

Coming back from the observance of the Holy Week, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) buckled down to work as it prepares for the eventful 2nd quarter of the year as announced by Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III during the monthly First Monday Flag Raising Ceremony program on April 2, 2018 at the Provincial Capital Grounds, City of San Fernando, La Union.

Welcoming the 2nd Quarter of 2018, the Governor instructed Capitol employees to take advantage of the sunny days and lay out the necessary work in anticipation of the rainy days ahead as he shared the classic fable of Aesop, the Ant and the Grasshopper, where the characters learned the value of play time, and the value of hard work and how to work hand in hand in storing food and enjoying the sunshine.

Gov. Pacoy concluded, “The story is not always what it seems. The story can be written, re-written, told and re-told. This story that we are writing for our beloved Province has taken stock of the very narrative to make La Union the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025. We are the actors playing the different roles that we have been chosen for.”

Moreover, Gov. Pacoy reminded the attendees about the events that will be held in April such as the Garantisadong Pambata Week and World Health Day with the theme, “Universal Health Coverage: Everyone, Everywhere,” commemoration of our heroes during the Araw ng Kagitingan, and the National Geographic Earth Day Run and International Earth Day.

The PGLU also honored its recent retirees. They are Teresa C. Bermudez, 28 years of service, Provincial Health Office (PHO); Wilfredo G. Nariz, 34 years of service, Provincial Jail; Teodoro M. Maynes, 28 years of service, Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPVET); and Bonifacio Y. Mingaracal Jr., 31 years of service, Naguilian District Hospital (NDH).

The Provincial Health Office (PHO) spearheaded the First Monday Flag Raising Ceremony for the month of April.
