PGLU Evaluates Strategic Initiatives towards LU’s Vision

PERFORMANCE REVIEW. The Provincial Government of La Union, headed by Gov. Pacoy, recognizes PGLU Offices that excelled in accomplishing their 2018 Wildly Important Goals contributing to La Union’s vision to be the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025 during the Annual Strategy Review on January 23, 2018 at the Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union.
The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) through the Office for Provincial Strategy (OPS) spearheaded the conduct of the 2019 Strategy Review (Power Up, Raise Your Game) on January 23, 2019 at the Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol.
The event, which is one of the elements of the Performance Governance System (PGS), was participated in by PGLU department heads and key office personnel who had been working hands on for the past two years towards the attainment of the province’s vision to make La Union as the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025. It served as an avenue to monitor, evaluate and report the status if the strategy is contributory to the fulfilment of vision.
In his speech, Gov. Pacoy emphasized the importance of the vision in order to have direction. He also encouraged everyone to continuously work together to achieve more. “Today means it is high time for us to be in a level beyond what is expected from us. We should raise our level of competitiveness by forging stronger bonds in working together cohesively,” he said.
The OPS, headed by Ms. Michaela Louise Delfinado, presented the strategic accomplishment of the Province for the year 2018. The presentation included updates on scorecards; accomplishment of wildly important goals; strategic communication activities; governance outreach activities; and updates on the activities of the Senior Transformative Leadership Team (STLT) and the Multi-Sectoral Governance Council (MSGC).
The panel for this year's strategy review were members of the MSGC and Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) who provided expert advices in the refinement of the strategy in preparation for the proficiency stage of PGS.
Different work units and individuals who have demonstrated exemplary performance to achieve their goals for 2018 were also recognized through the incentive program dubbed as “The Governance Awards.” The Governance Trailblazer Award was conferred to the Provincial Population Office (PPO) while Governance Achiever Award was conferred to Office of the Provincial Assessors, Office of the Provincial Veterinarian and Security Services Unit; Governance Partner Award goes to Public Employment Services Unit (PESU), SP, Information, Communication and Technology Unit (ICTU) and Provincial General Services Office (PGSO); Office Documenters who had been religiously submitting required documents on time were also awarded. They were Mr. Francisco Peñamayor of PPO, Ms. Mia Jayn Ochoco of PESU, Ms. Rhea Matilde Ballesteros of SP, Ms. Margie Garcia of ICTU and Ms. Rio Renn Garcia of PGSO.
Moving forward, the different work units are expected to deliver effective measures to achieve strategic objectives that would have a direct impact to the province’s vision.
Later this year, the Provincial Government of La Union will be validated for the Proficiency Stage of PGS.
